Two New Quilts

Two new quilts just back from the quilters. The first is a lap size split nine patch in blue for my sister-in-law who has a zero birthday soon. Karen and Paul from Somerset Patchwork (where I just happen to work) always  do a wonderful job when quilting my projects.

A special fabric from the cupboard for the backing.

This next quilt has been a work in progress for a while now. A friend found the pattern in  an old magizine and  kindly sheared it with me. The applique pieces are quite large so it came together quickly but then I let it sit unquilted. So I finally decided to get it quilted and let Desley, from  Addicted To Quilts  weave her magic. She has done a beautiful job. Done exactly the way I like, not to heavily quilted.

An Moonen at Somerset

Today we were lucky to have An Moonen visit us at  Somerset Patchwork. An has been here in Australia and New Zealand on a speaking tour.We had a group of ladies in the shop to have their copies of An"s book The History of Dutch Antique Quilts signed. Tomorrow I will have the unique opportunity to hear An speak about the long tradition of quilting in the Netherlands.Today I got to show An my small quilt top that I was inspired to make after reading her beautiful book.

Poor An looks a bit worried she has just signed my quilt.

My Mrs Billings

This is my version of Mrs Billings. I am really enjoying the cutting, sewing and choosing ALL the different fabrics. The templates make the shapes easy to sew together as they are all the same size.

I am very happy with the way the centre has come out.

These are all the coloured diamonds and background half diamonds cut and ready to sew.

Until next time.
