Sidmouth Part 3

 

This is the linen fabric I have used as the border for my quilt using the Sidmouth panel.

 

 

 

Yes it does have snakes and insects.

 

 

The colours are just perfect, you just have to forget there are snakes.

 

 

Ok maybe a bit hard.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Excuse the  toes, I need longer arms.

 

 

What is it about cats and quilts, even on a 41 degree day. Cats love fabric!

Houston Quilt Festival

 

Festival was everything and so much more than I thought it could be. Now that we are home the twelve days we spent in Houston seam like a dream. Were we really there, have I really been to the biggest quilt show. There was just so much to take in. So many quilts, booths and so many people from all over the world. Everyone I was lucky enough to met was friendly, warm and very welcoming. We all had such a great time. Now I can start to dream, plan and save to do it again.

Sidmouth Part 2

 

There are now four borders around the Sidmouth panel. Two frames of hourglass blocks and two narrow frames of the same fabric.

 

 

 

The hourglass blocks came together quickly once I choose the fabric combinations. Sometimes I find this the hardest part to many colour and print choices to many decisions to be made. JUST CUT AND SEW SUSAN !!!

 

Ok I will, I am really quite happy with them. Now to choose some more ?   Sue

Sidmouth panel

 

Back in June this colourful group of fabrics was put together to go with this amazing panel.  The panel comes from the York Quilt Museum. I found it on their online shop..

 

 

 

The panel has come from a quilt in the museums collection called The Sidmouth Quilt.  With the first border on, what happens now? Lots of trial and error and fun, choosing shapes and colours.

 

The next couple of borders should be on soon. Will keep you posted.  Sue

Back from the Quilters

 

I am so pleased with the quilting. Once again a great job by Karen and Paul.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This border fabric works so well. 

 

 

 

 

 

These last two photos make the quilt look very washed out. The colours are much stronger brown, pink, red and gold the colour combination I seem to use often. With Janine's much appreciated help the binding is sewn on so officially finished.

Boarder found

Yes ! found at last the perfect fabric. This quilt top has been waiting a long time for that boarder and wouldn't you know it has been sitting on the shelf at Somerset for some time now. Oh well better late than never.

 

 

 

One of the corner blocks has been signed by An Moonen

A photo of the original quilt appears in the beautiful book A History of Dutch Quilts by An Moonen. Last year when An was in Melbourne she signed my quilt for me.

 

 

 

 

 

So now it is ready to go to the quilters. Hint Hint Karen!
